About the Commission

A 35-Year Legacy of American Labor

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America entrusted Robert Byron Gottschall with one of the most sustained public art relationships in American sculpture over 100 pieces across 35 years.

The commission spans four cities: double life-size bronze installations at the Brotherhood's national headquarters in Washington, D.C. and in San Francisco, and half life-size works placed in Albuquerque and Las Vegas.

Each figure is rendered with the same precision and reverence the trade demands a permanent tribute to the dignity of American craftsmanship and the enduring spirit of skilled labor.
